Resolution problem

Symptoms:

During the login flow, the “resolution problem” page appears: “Sorry, your Screen resolution is incompatible - In order to attend this event, your Screen Resolution must be set to 1024*768 pixels and High Color (16-bit).”

Cause of the Problem:

Incompatible display settings or display adaptor.

Solution:

  • Try to change your screen resolution settings to 1024*768, and high color 16 bit:
    • Open the 'Control Panel':
      • In Microsoft Windows XP, Click on the “Start” button on the bottom-left hand corner on your screen and click on "Control Panel”
      • On other Operating Systems:

Click on the “Start” button on the bottom-left hand corner on your screen and move your mouse up to “Settings”, now click on "Control Panel"

    • Reach the display settings:

In the "Control Panel" window, double-click on the “Display” icon. A "Display Properties" window will open, Select the “Settings” tab.
      • In Microsoft Windows XP:
        • Adjust the screen resolution:
Check the resolution in the “Screen resolution” on the left hand side of the window. If your current setting is lower than 1024x768, move the slider to the right until it reaches the desired settings. If you are unable to move the slider, the screen card is incompatible.
        • Adjust the color depth:
Check the color palette in the “Colors” section on the right hand side of the window. Choose “High Color (16 bit)” from the drop-down list. If you don't not have this option, your screen card is incompatible.
        • Double check the screen resolution:
Check that your “Screen resolution” slider is still on 1024*768. If the slider “jumps” back to a lower resolution, the card is incompatible.

      • On other operating systems:

        Adjust the screen area:
Check the resolution in the “Screen Area” on the right hand side of the window. If your current setting is lower than 1024x768, move the slider to the right until it reaches the desired settings. If you are unable to move the slider, your screen card is incompatible.

    • Adjust the color depth:
Check the color palette in the “Colors” section on the left hand side of the window. Choose “High Color (16 bit)” from the drop-down list. If you don't not have this option, the screen card is incompatible.

    • Double check the screen resolution:
Check that your “screen area” slider is still on 1024*768. If the slider “jumps” back to a lower resolution, the card is incompatible.

  • IMPORTANT – IN CASE THAT ACCEPTING THE CHANGES REQUIRE BOOTING THE COMPUTER, DO NOT AGREE TO REBOOT!
If your monitor does not support the new resolution, booting your computer may result in a flickering screen! Press cancel. We apologize but you will not be able to attend the session.

  • To accept the changes:

Click the “OK” button, now a warning message pops-up saying it's about to change the Display Properties temporarily. On the pop-up window click the “OK” button to accept the changes.

  • AT THIS POINT THE SETTINGS ARE CHANGED ONLY FOR 15 SECONDS, DURING WHICH YOU NEED TO ACCEPT THE NEW SETTINGS, IF YOU FAILS TO DO SO DURING THIS TIME, YOUR OLD SETTINGS WILL RETURN!

  • Are you able to see clearly?
If you are unable to see anything now, just wait for the 15 seconds to expire, your screen is incompatible.

If you are able to see clearly click the “Yes” button in the message window that has popped up which asks if you want to “keep the new Display Properties permanently?”

  • continue the login flow:
Click on the “Continue” button in the browser to re-test your screen resolution.
