Dashboard application cannot be installed

Symptoms:

You get the following browser message:

"Sorry, the MI Live Dashboard application cannot be installed with your current system settings - In order to install the Dashboard application, Invoke Solutions needs to install a browser plug-in. Your current settings will not permit this installation."

Cause of the Problem:

Occurs when trying to install the Dashboard, usually an administrative privileges problem, but can also be high security settings, or when clicking “no” or “cancel” on one of the installations dialogue boxes.

Solution:

  • Check internet security and privacy settings:
    • Internet Explorer security settings:
      To check your browsers security settings, In your browsers menu bar click on the TOOLS button, in the tools menu, click on INTERNET OPTIONS and now click on the SECURITY tab. Make sure that the GLOBE icon on the far left which says “internet” is highlighted. Is your security level set to medium? If not, click on the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

    • Internet Explorer privacy settings (exists only on IE 6):
      Move to the privacy tab, Is it set to medium? If not, click on the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

    • AOL or MSN browsers security:
      Go to start -> settings -> control panel (Windows XP: start ->control panel), choose ‘Internet Options’, now click on the SECURITY tab. Make sure that the GLOBE icon on the far left which says “internet” is highlighted. Is your security level set to medium? If not, click the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

    • AOL or MSN browsers privacy:
      If you also have a privacy tab, click on it, Is it set to medium? If not, click the DEFAULT LEVEL button.

  • Choosing ‘no’ on the security warning message:
    When the Security Warning window asked for your permission to install the software, did you choose or accidentally clicked the ‘NO’ button? in order to attend the event you have to agree and install the MI-Live software, please click ‘RETRY’ button and click the ‘YES’ button when the security warning appears again.

  • Choosing ‘CANCEL’ on the End User License Agreement:
    When the ‘End user License agreement’ window asked for your permission to install the software, did you choose or accidentally click the ‘CANCEL’ button?. in order to attend the event you have to agree and install the MI-Live Dashboard, please click ‘RETRY’ and click the ‘YES’ button when the ‘End user License agreement’ window appears again.

  • Choosing ‘CANCEL’ on the Setup Progress window:
    In the ‘Setup Progress’ window, did you choose or accidentally click the ‘CANCEL’ button?. in order to attend the event you have to complete the installation of the MI-Live Dashboard, , please click ‘RETRY’ and complete the installation.

  • Check for problems of administrative privileges:
    • Attending the survey from work: If you are using a computer in your workplace, you may not have Administrative/Power User privileges required to download and install software on your machine. Your corporate system administrator can provide you with these privileges.

    • Attending the survey from home: If you are using , with the multiple users option, you may not have the Administrative/Power User privileges required to download and install software on the machine. The person who uses the computer on a regular basis can provide you with these privileges.

  • For Windows XP SP2:
    • To check if you have Service Pack 2: Right click MY COMPUTER and choose PROPERTIES, in the GENERAL tab, the system details should state if service pack 2 is installed.

    • If you have Service Pack 2: Look for a light yellow bar at the upper section of your browser window, just below the address bar, This information bar states that you need to install an ActiveX control to continoue. Click on the information bar, and select Install ActiveX control... from the menu. You should now see a pop-up security warning, Click on INSTALL to continue

  • Try downloading the installation file:
    To avoid "online installations" problems, try to download the installation file and execute it locally:
